Volunteer Day at REFB

September 23, 2020

The team from TLCD was excited to meet at the Redwood Empire Food Bank (REFB) last week for a volunteer shift bagging potatoes and onions. You can’t tell but behind our masks we are smiling and having a great time. The food bank has three rotating shifts Monday through Friday and they make it easy and flexible to come and help out. It turns out we bagged 9,000 pounds of produce which translates into 7,500 meals!

This is an unprecedented time in the North Bay with the pandemic and more recently the August wildfires impacting our population. Never has the need been greater for people with food insecurities in our community.

The REFB really has the volunteer process dialed in with Covid protocols. TLCD staff and their families arrived with masks, followed by a short orientation before gathering at separate family tables. It was the first time many of us had seen each other (outside of Zoom) in 6 months!

We highly encourage individual families or workplace teams to help out at the food bank… they are always looking for volunteers!
