Melissa’s love of architecture dates back to her childhood when she got to hang out with a sketchbook in her father’s architecture office. She also thrived on exposure to architecturally rich San Francisco, Chicago and London. After college, her career advanced quickly through experience with prominent architecture firms in Chicago and Seattle. Eventually she returned to her home town of San Francisco after a decade spent teaching architecture and studying abroad. Melissa’s resume includes awards, publications and exhibitions as well as work on a myriad of fascinating projects in both the US and overseas including mixed-use, commercial high rise, retail, and master plan development.
Taking a management and mentoring role in TLCD’s Healthcare Studio is perfectly suited to Melissa’s blend of practical experience, background in teaching, and her collaborative approach to team leadership. While solving technical challenges are reflected in her disciplined approach to the practice of architecture, her design sensibilities have contributed to a number of notable design awards. She especially values her life-long practice of sketching and architectural illustration which she continues to explore in urban and rural Northern California.
