Construction on the Sonoma Clean Power Advanced Energy Center got underway in November. The awarded contractor, Agbayani Construction Corporation, has been busy clearing out the former Stanroy Music Center storefront on 4th Street.
SCP’s new retail location brings a variety of offerings to our community through this learning hub. It offers the public an opportunity to see market-ready clean technology equipment and connect them with qualified contractors for competitive installation. A demonstration kitchen will provide instruction in induction appliances and cooking techniques. The next generation can also learn about clean energy, the local environment and climate change in the Education area.
Designers, architects, builders and installers will be able to take advantage of training and certification courses in the large Training Room that features tubular skylights that the SCP customer might choose to use in their own residential construction project, as well as a folding glass wall that opens the room up to a lounge area for larger events.
Early in the design phase, we discovered an 18’ high wood structure within the chosen tenant space that has been hidden behind a lowered t-bar ceiling previously. The team decided to reveal that structure in the new design and really open up the showroom floor, using the exposed wood to warm up the environment. The floor is arranged for easy navigation of the technologies on display along the perimeter. The clean energy exhibits ring all ‘people spaces’ located in the center over a carpeted area with a cloud ceiling above. Specialized group areas for learning can be found as customers make their way further into the shop.
We have really enjoyed teaming with the SCP team to bring this resource to our community and can’t wait to see it in action in 2020!
