In Celebration of Wine!

November 18, 2021

TLCD Principals Carl Servais and Brian Wright (retired), recently attended the Grand Opening of the Justin & J. Lohr Center for Wine and Viticulture at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. This project, designed by TLCD Architecture and built by JW Construction provides the type of leading edge facilities needed to prepare students for the cultivation, production, and marketing of wine. We were thrilled to be on hand as the doors were opened for a cocktail reception and self-guided tour for donors and local wine industry professionals.

The weather was beautiful for this indoor/outdoor event and spirits were high as proud instructors showed off the new John G. Franzia Family Enology Laboratory, Wagner Foundation Viticulture Laboratory, and J. Lohr Sensory lab. Students from the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences were excited to start using the 250-gallon tanks to make their own varietals and blends. Classes are scheduled to begin in the Spring and the crush pad, fermenters and barrel rooms are ready for next Fall’s harvest.
