SRJC Athletics Complex

Santa Rosa, CA

In collaboration with ELS Architecture and Wright Contracting, TLCD transformed SRJC’s athletics facilities for the Kinesiology, Athletics and Dance (KAD) Department. This modernization, which includes the addition of an Olympic-size pool, elevates the competition level of the athletes and provides a true home field advantage for years to come.

DEDICATED ATHLETIC VENUES

Previously the baseball, softball, and soccer teams shared fields that required moving fencing and seating based on the season. Now baseball and softball each have their own dedicated fields with artificial turf. Soccer has its own field with natural grass. New artificial turf in Bailey Field allows the football team to utilize their field for both games and practice.

Lloyd Sports Engineering provided consulting to transform what was formerly a large, multi-sport artificial turf area into multiple fine-tuned venues engineered for high-performance. The baseball field and softball field each received new permanent fencing and a state-of-the-art artificial surface tailored to the specifications of the SRJC baseball and softball programs. The artificial surface allows more consistent playing conditions in all weather and requires less maintenance from grounds crew. New grandstands with accessible seating improve the spectator experience for both sports.

The soccer program was provided with a new dedicated natural grass playing field with fencing and spectator gathering areas. Formerly occupying the ‘leftover’ space between baseball and softball fields, the soccer field is now one of the best in the region with a surface conducive to athlete safety and room to train between matches.

A PREMIER SWIMMING AND DIVING VENUE

The new 50m outdoor pool for the SRJC swim program fulfills a yearslong effort by the KAD Department to provide an Olympic level facility for the community. The new pool features a moveable bulkhead for configuring swim lanes for multiple events and a competition diving area. New scoreboards and spectator seating areas were included to make this the premier swim venue in Sonoma County and the only Olympic-sized pool between Petaluma and the Oregon border.

HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE

The new fieldhouse and grandstands were the final pieces of the transformation of Bailey Field into a championship level venue for the SRJC football program. New grandstands and pressbox visually solidify the home team side of the field. The fieldhouse anchors the south end of Bailey Field, nestled in and around the large heritage oaks. The second level outdoor walkway connecting coaching offices to a publicly accessible viewing plaza, features a steel trellis which extends shade beyond the reach of the tree canopy for comfort of staff and spectators. Exclusive locker rooms for the football team, and track and field programs are provided at the ground level of the building.
