American AgCredit recognized by Engineering News Report (ENR) as the Best Office Project in Northern California for 2017.
This striking three-story 120,000 sf building exemplifies how client, community, design and construction come together to raise the bar on contemporary office space. The architecture is based on two curving volumes that form an oval-shaped courtyard. The courtyard provides a beautiful outdoor gathering space and allows light to penetrate deep into the building core while providing stunning views of the Sonoma County landscape.
American AgCredit wanted their new office headquarters to cater to their staff’s needs and overall functional requirements and be able to adapt and evolve with their fast growing, ever-changing company. It was the client’s goal to develop a building that would allow for a variety of spaces, paths and experiences throughout the building. Heavily influenced by interior movement and context, the building mass was shaped to introduce more daylight into interior work areas.
American AgCredit did not want the traditional Design-Bid-Build delivery process – they preferred a design partnership between contractor, architect and client. TLCD Architecture and Jim Murphy Associates were selected through a design competition and the team worked collaboratively throughout the 18-month construction schedule to deliver a stunning project.
ENR Regional Best Projects Awards are a series of special events to celebrate and honor the building teams that created the best projects of 2016. The Best Projects for Northern California were held on October 13, 2017, at the Julia Morgan Ballroom in San Francisco.
