AIARE 2022 Design Award

November 8, 2022

TLCD was recently recognized by the AIA Redwood Empire Chapter with a 2022 Honorable Mention: Sustainable Design Award for Exchange Bank, Sebastopol Branch. The much anticipated bi-annual local AIA design awards program hosted a gala event at the Saralee & Richard’s Barn at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds on October 15th. The design community gathered to recognize the best in local architecture and enjoy the company of our fellow architects, designers and allied professionals.

The design architect Jeff Blechel was on hand with Principal Don Tomasi to accept the award on behalf of TLCD Architecture. A new category for the awards program this year, the project was recognized for its sustainable features. Of special note, the building was configured with opposing shed roofs that direct rainwater into an elevated rain garden at the building perimeter. The main roof form is ideally oriented for the implemented rooftop solar panels. Thoughtful placement of glazing allows natural light to penetrate the interior space and encourages a welcoming indoor/outdoor connection for visitors and staff.

Congratulations to all the other award recipients who continue to elevate the level of design work in the North Bay!
