PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING CENTER, SANTA ROSA JUNIOR COLLEGE
Windsor, CA | Complete
The Santa Rosa Junior College Public Safety Training Center is a result of a 10-year collaboration between SRJC and the TLCD Architecture. The design team and members of the Public Safety Training Center staff toured similar facilities all over California. Particular attention was paid to emerging computerized simulation technology for firearms, scenario and driver training activities.
The 20-acre facility provides training for a Police Academy, Park Ranger Academy, Fire Fighter classroom training and Emergency Medical Technician programs. It serves both college academies and as a community resource for in-service training for public safety agencies throughout Northern California. Special facilities include a 15-lane indoor rifle and pistol range, a 10-acre driver training area with skid pad, an onsite garage for the maintenance and storage of the driver training fleet of emergency vehicles, and a defensive tactics physical training building. A miniature “Main Street” Scenario Village contains full-scale mock-ups of retail, commercial and residential uses on a cul-de-sac. This streetscape serves as a site for simulations of situations faced in actual patrol and emergency response situations.
