REDWOOD EMPIRE FOOD BANK
Santa Rosa, CA | Conceptual Plan
The Redwood Empire Food Bank is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending hunger in Sonoma County. It is the primary food source for 146 charitable organizations in the North Bay in addition to 13 of their own hunger relief programs. As the distribution point for more than 12 million pounds of food each year, half of which is fresh produce, the food bank has outgrown its current warehouse facility. The Concept Plan was developed as a tool for the organization’s capital campaign to purchase or build a greatly expanded facility.
The new building will increase warehouse and refrigerated storage, provide additional truck bays and provide a greater array of training and educational programs for the organization. With an on-site garden, roof mounted photovoltaic panels and a green roof, the dream of the organization is to create a facility that models both sustainable food and building practices.
