We create places for building users to connect, places that people enjoy and want to come, stay and return. Each project seeks a balance between active and lively public space, and private spaces for quiet activities. We emphasize the contemporary nature of our work; each project aims to situate itself in our time.
Site design defines how the built environment meets the natural environment. We place a high priority on connecting building uses to both the natural and urban context. Likewise we place a high emphasis on connecting our projects to the natural environment through the use of local materials and by designing buildings that are responsive to local climate.
Our work responds to the specific character of the site. We are deeply concerned about cultural context and local history. Through investigation and by working with our clients and interacting with neighbors, community groups and local governing agencies we seek to understand this context and history, and it is reflected in each of our projects.
