KAISER SANTA ROSA HOSPITAL EXPANSION

Planning and designing a major hospital expansion presents many unique challenges and opportunities. In 2004 TLCD Architecture began working with Kaiser Permanente on a $183M Hospital Expansion Project to double the size of the existing hospital. It includes a series of projects to account for existing conditions, expanding utility capacities, relocating departments and maintaining the daily operations of an existing medical center.

The project has also provided many opportunities to enhance the sense of well being for patients, staff and visitors. The materials and colors invoke a feeling of hospitality rather than sterile institution. The nurse stations have been designed to provide more opportunities for the medical staff to interact with patients and visitors. The typical patient room allows family members to participate in the recovery of their loved ones and has been made the standard for Kaiser Permanente.
